I love interesting texture in photographs, it can make the most mundane surface come alive and become tactile, turn it into something new. An odd angle can render the subject indistinguishable and create an abstract image and the texture becomes the focus.
The photos below all depict man-made structures, for more nature based textures take a look at my Instagram gallery @covetandinspire
Tourists and Locals
There’s something about this photo which sums up my trip; sun-dappled relaxing and reading, a snack within easy reach. Perhaps I spent more time on the beach than this traveller? My pit stops always involved a coffee or a beer (or a migration from one to the other) but this spot looks particularly relaxing and I would have been comfortable here too I expect:
Sometimes you just have to get away. My recent escape was to Barcelona for some time in the sun, some beers by the sea and wandering amongst some beautiful art and architecture – soaking up the incredible design the city offers. It was such a pleasure to be photographing again, despite some technical issues. I didn’t take my film camera, just the one Nikon digital as I wanted to travel light, but that means I’ll just have to return to this gorgeous city and experiment with film exposures. I can’t wait!
I love the decorative facades and mosaics prevalent in Barcelona. I hadn’t before visited the Palau de Musica so this was a real treat; such beauty and vision in just one building.
Appropriate I thought for a trip to connect with my creativity:
Of course no visit to Barcelona is complete without popping up the hill to Park Guell:
A fabulous, revitalising trip which I hope has given me the boost I so needed. Some street photography shots will follow soon. In the meantime Salud!
